Understanding supplier management is designed for middle management who are responsible for the day-to-day running of the supplier system and compliance to it, and management who will be accountable for the system.
On completion of this course, you’ll understand how the approval and performance monitoring of suppliers is managed in a system.
This provides a good basis for further learning and enables you to complete one or more of the other units in the series.
Using suppliers is an essential part of supply, however, it brings risk with it – which can have a serious impact on your business, your customers, and the final consumer.
This means that supplier management is a critical aspect of any management system and is a fundamental part of the standard.

We recommend that you complete this mini training ‘Understanding supplier management’ before taking any of the other courses in this series.
It provides the foundation of the basic understanding of supplier management and is an introduction to the rest of the training. This allows additional learning to be overlayed, producing a gradual learning experience – preventing the learner from becoming overwhelmed.

About the training
The course includes exercises and takes approx. 40 minutes without breaks.
The test is made up of 25 multiple-choice questions. 70% is required to pass and gain a certificate. The test is open book and retakes are free of charge.
Understanding suppliers
There are many types of suppliers. To be able to manage them, you need to understand how to categorise them. This course provides a simple way of separating them into material suppliers and operational suppliers, so that you can apply the correct supplier management process.
