This course is a prerequisite to all of the mini trainings in this corrective and preventive action series. It provides the foundation of the basic understanding required for improvement and non-conformance actions. This allows additional learning to be overlayed, producing a gradual learning experience – preventing the learner from becoming overwhelmed.

The course explains the difference between improvement (proactive and remedial actions) and non-conformance (corrective and preventive actions). For the first time, improvement actions are called out and separated from non-conformances, in a clearly defined way. This allows improvement actions to be managed differently from non-conformances, where stricter control is required to meet the standards.

The first aspect which is addressed in this course, is the vast amount of terminology that’s used in industry. The course explains the differences in the terms and which ones to use. Easy to understand definitions are provided, to ensure that all staff are ‘talking the same language’.

You’ll learn what the requirements of the standard are and what they mean. The interpretation explains how consequence assessment is determined and how this links to minor, major and critical non-conformances.

An overview is provided of the seven steps for handling non-conformance actions. These seven steps are then continued throughout the other mini trainings in this series.

As culture continues to become one of the key aspects of compliance to the standards, this course teaches how improvement and non-conformance action can be linked to culture, using the culture scale. On completion of this course, you’ll be able to identify where your business sits on this scale and put a plan in place for improvement – which can be included in your culture plan.

NC training

A must for all staff involved in non-conformance actions

There are two types of action; improvement and non-conformance. Improvement is driven using proactive action and remedial actions. Where non-conformances are identified – corrective and preventive actions are applied. This course is designed specifically for those who are involved in non-conformance actions.

Culture scale

Corrective, preventive and proactive culture

The culture of the business will dictate how actions are handled. The culture of every business will sit somewhere on the action culture scale. During this course you’ll learn about the culture scale, so you can determine where your business sits and how to move it up the scale – towards proactive culture.

This is a really great course to help understand all the terminology that can sometimes become confusing when you are just beginning to learn the more technical side of a job role.

I would definitely recommend this course, as it is very well balanced and easy to follow.

Well done to everyone involved in producing the course.

This really is a great training package.
Goodness knows how much work was required to put it all together.

I found this section particularly interesting as it got into the nooks and crannies of terminology and had some practical activities to help consolidate the points.

This video aspect is helpful. At first, I thought the pace would be too slow, as I may tend to try to get through things quickly. However, I resolved to keep an open mind and lean into the training. The time invested was definitely well spent.
It is further supported by a creative and easy-to-use, downloadable guidebook and live chat.

It gets the highest recommendation from me.

Thanks for your comments Teri, we really appreciate your feedback. I thought I would mention, to those that may be unaware who are reading this, that this course is available as a standalone product here, and also part of our Issue 9 training package where we included this as a section item to cover the changes to BRCGS clause 3.7.2. and also to reinforce the importance of culture when applying action to non-conformances – clause 1.1.12 which had its interpretation expanded.
