The BRC Module 11 for meat supply chain assurance was introduced in 2016, following the horse meat scandal.  The aim of the module is to improve the clarity and transparency of the supply chain of meat and meat products.  The module since its launch has become more and more popular, and is now a requirement for supply for many manufacturers, who are supplying the retailers.  The module requires a supply chain map to be produced for all meat raw materials and also a speciation risk assessment, to control cross-contamination in the factory.
