We’re all well aware that 2020 hasn’t been the best or easiest year. But as a community we’ve done some fantastic things and (it’s felt like we’ve literally) moved mountains.

Which is why, we’re not going to dwell on the negatives of last year.

As Techie’s it’s in our nature to only focus on what we’ve not achieved and what’s not gone well – so it’s important that we don’t let the positives pass us by.

We thought it would be nice to use this article as a way of publicly giving those that have made a difference this year, a virtual ‘pat on the back’.

Here are our top 3:

We would like to say a huge thank you and a humongous pat on the back to all of our readers. And especially those who have contributed this year. We really couldn’t have done it without you, sending us pieces of information that we could share. I won’t name you all (as I haven’t got your permission) but you know who you are. So, thank you!

Well done Chilled Food Association!

We would also like to give a pat on the back to the Chilled Foods Association, who have and continue to be so helpful. They put the industry first and work hard without expecting anything in return. They’re definitely our kind of company – as they seem to work by one of our own values; “Putting morals before money”.

Our third ‘pat on the back’ goes to IFST, who have provided the industry with free information on COVID-19.

Food Safety & GMP

It’s been 3 years since we launched our very first Food Safety & GMP course, for Bakery manufacturing. Quickly followed by Dairy, Meat and Fish. These courses have been adopted by some huge and amazing companies.  We couldn’t be more proud, that we’re making a difference to the way that this level of training is being delivered. When the courses were first launched in 2018, we made a commitment to update them every 3 years and that’s what we’ve done. They’re even better and we now have 20 product sector courses coming your way!

Mini trainings

Training is an expense for companies. Paying for a 1, 2 or 5 day course isn’t always viable. And being able to dedicate that amount of time to actually do the course isn’t easy. Which is why, we’ve started to launch what we call our ‘mini trainings’.

These are short courses, of about an hour – which makes them really cost effective. We think it’s the future of training.

Culture training is out now and we’ll be launching loads more, prioritising those that are needed for BRCGS Storage & Distribution Issue 4 conversion.

Shared Knowledge

We started to compile and share information on BRCGS NCNs and Certification Body reviews. This is something we’re going to give some real focus this year, so look out for improvements coming your way.



You may have heard that we’re launching an exciting piece of software with our partners agileChilli, for internal auditing and GMP inspections. We’re currently carrying out beta testing and we’ll be looking to invite a small number of early adopters to join us in the next few weeks, so if you’re interested in being an early adopter – then please get in touch for details. Full launch is expected to be in March, so more details to follow soon.
